Notes
To the south of the town centre, there is a large strategic grass pitch site, split into two, supporting two football clubs.
The first site (10 x 11v11 grass pitches) is managed by Kidderminster Harriers and supports the senior men and women's teams, Kidderminster Harriers Youth (28 teams, England ** accredited) and Kidderminster Harriers Community Trust. Adjacent to this site is 2 11x11 grass pitch site which supports Areley Kings Youth FC (10 teams, England * accredited).
The steering group identified the facility could potentially be managed by the Kidderminster Harriers Community Trust. This is a key way of ensuring the pitch has a varied programme of use meeting several objectives, including supporting local clubs to grow the female game along with increasing opportunities for the Community Trust to expand its offer.
For the Trust to manage the site. it would be encouraged to take on a lease for the site from Kidderminster Harrier's club owner. The freehold of the land is currently held by a private company. The Community Trust would need to lease the invested land to achieve Football Foundation investment.
The Trust currently operates out of a number of sites. Although a new 3G pitch will enable it to improve its offer it also needs to guard against centralising this too and minimising its outreach. It currently delivers a range of programmes, including football for adults, walking football, jogging football, 40 plus football and a women’s weight loss league.
A new 11v11 3G FTP would also encourage both clubs' female sections to grow. Currently, Kidderminster Harriers has 12 teams (senior and youth). The senior team plays in the West Midlands Regional Women's Football League. Areley Kings has two female teams.
