Notes
The steering group identified a need for two 3G 11v11 pitches in Andover. The following sites have been put forward as possible options:
-Winton Academy
-Andover New Street Youth (Foxcotte Lane)- stadia pitch
With only one 11v11 3G FTP currently, and several large clubs, there is a need for additional provision. All local clubs are struggling to expand and increase football opportunities due to the lack of provision in the north of the Authority. The current 3G pitch is heavily used by Andover Town FC and Andover New Street Youth, which restricts other local clubs gaining access.
Additional provision would primarily support Andover New Street Youth (54 teams, England 3* Accredited). The Club is well run with strong male senior and junior sections. It also has 16 female teams. Should a 3G pitch at Foxcotte Lane be installed, it would need to support step 5 football, as the men's first team play in the Wessex Premier league. With only one pitch in the area, it is struggling to increase the number of teams across all sections and offer recreational opportunities, such as walking football and pan disability sessions. The site will also requires the changing provision to be upgraded.
Other key clubs include Andover Town (15 teams, England 3* Accredited), Shooters Youth (Ten teams, England 2* Accredited), Upper Clatford (15 teams, England 1* Accredited). All have a limited women and girls offer, which is reflective of the low availability of 3G provision in the town.
There is also scope for one pitch to be a multi sport in partnership with Andover Rugby Club.
