Notes
Alder Grange School has an existing 11v11 3G FTP which was built in 2010 but does not have floodlighting. The pitch is available for community use during spring and summer terms but without floodlighting offers limited opportunity to local football clubs, which can only use the 3G FTP when daylight allows . Over the course of the football season, the 3G FTP is largely unusable during peak months of the season for training and is not on the FA 3G Pitch Register for match play use since it expired in April 2024.
The LFFP steering group and PPS update identified the need to install floodlighting and resurface the existing 3G FTP due to its age and poor quality. Provided the pitch is able to be developed with floodlighting, the project would provide a good quality 11v11 3G FTP in the Rossendale Central area and by improvement of an existing facility meet the shortfall in the sub-area.
Potential football club users of the proposed floodlit 3G FTP would need to be determined, but it is expected that England Football 2* and 3* accredited clubs would be regular partner users.
If the development of floodlighting at Alder Grange High School is not achievable, then an additional 11v11 3G FTP may be required in future in-lieu of this project to meet the shortfall for team training in the Rossendale Central area.
