Notes
The emerging PPS identifies a current shortfall of 4.25 11v11 3G FTPs in the Harrogate sub-area. If the identified priority project at Nidderdale High School can be delivered, there would remain a shortfall of 3.25 3G FTPs.
Site options require exploration and are subject to planning, viability and feasibility. Potential options may include, but are not limited to:
- Harrogate Grammar School: the School has expressed interested to WRFA in potential to convert the existing sand based AGP to 3G.
- Knaresborough Town FC: the Club plays at Step 5 of the men's National League System and has identified a desire to convert the existing grass stadia pitch to 3G. The club plans to develop a more community focussed offer and is looking to develop women's and girls teams as well as walking football. There has been significant housing growth in the area which has generated increased demand for facilities.
- Harrogate RFC: through the PPS the rugby union club identified an aspiration to develop World Rugby compliant 3G FTP provision.
North Yorkshire Council has also reported an interest to explore opportunities to develop a multi 3G FTP football hub in the Harrogate area of North Yorkshire.
There is potential multi-sport opportunity for World Rugby/RFL 3G compliancy to benefit Harrogate Hawks (rugby league) and Harrogate RFC.
