Notes
Royal Meadow Drive has been identified as a suitable site for a new World Rugby compliant 11v11 3G FTP. The North Warwickshire PPS (2024) also identified the aforementioned proposal.
The North Warwickshire PPS (2024) identified a localised shortfall of 0.66 (0.75) 11v11 3G FTPs in the Atherstone & Mancetter area.
It is anticipated that a new World Rugby compliant 11v11 3G FTP at Royal Meadow Drive would potentially serve demand from Atherstone Rangers FC (28 teams, England 1* Accredited Club). The development at Royal Meadow Drive would serve community football clubs, including women and girls' football demand, as well as rugby union demand from Atherstone RFC.
The LFFP steering group identified a need for the development of new ancillary provision to support the development of a 3G FTP. It is important that the new build pavilion is positioned adjacent to the proposed 3G FTP at the site.
Any ancillary developments must ensure they provide suitable provision to maximise participation and engagement for women and girls' activity.
Given the expected rugby union activity that the 3G FTP at the site would facilitate, an opportunity exists to ensure that any new build pavilion at the site is able to cater for multiple sports.
