Notes
There is an identified need for two 11v11 3G FTP across the Dorking area. Through discussions with the LFFP Steering Group options for sites for further investigation and feasibility work include:
Ashcombe School - existing facilities include one full size grass pitch. Two teams from Dorkinians Youth FC (32 teams, England 2* Accredited Club) currently use the site.
West Humble Playing Field - multi pitch grass pitch site with supporting ancillary provision. The site is the home ground for 13 teams from Dorking Wanderers FC (46 teams, England 2* Accredited Club) and four teams from Dorkinians Youth FC (32 teams, England 2* Accredited Club).
The Big Field (Dorking Rugby Club) - site accommodates seven full size rugby grass pitches, and several junior football pitches with supporting ancillary facilities. The site is primarily the home ground for 20 teams from Dorking RC, four teams from Brockham Badgers FC (9 teams, England 2* Accredited Club) and one team from Mole Valley Girls FC (17 teams, England 2* Accredited Club). For an 3G FTP development to progress here it would require Dorking RC to partner with local affiliated football clubs. This partnership would ensure the proposed usage programme includes sufficient football activity to meet the Football Foundation’s funding requirements.
The Priory C of E School - existing facilities include two full size grass pitches, and a cricket square. Further feasibility is required to ascertain the impact of development of an 11v11 3G FTP on the cricket square, although no affiliated club cricket is known to take place on the site. No affiliated football clubs currently use the site.
As clubs are spread across multiple facilities for training, it remains unclear at this time which specific clubs would benefit most from the proposed new 11v11 3G FTPs. A comprehensive usage programme would need to be developed during the application stage to clarify anticipated demand and primary users.
Further opportunities should be monitored.
Subject to exploration of potentially feasible site options, there may be a need for the development of new or refurbished ancillary provision to support the development of a 3G FTP.
