Notes
There is a need for one 3G 11v11 FTP in Tiverton.
The steering group did not identify a site, however, there are a number of possible options which are listed below.
A pitch in Tiverton would support the following clubs: Tiverton Town FC (2 teams, England * accredited and the senior men's team competes at NLS Step 3), Elmore FC (5 teams, England *** accredited), Twyford Spartans Youth (18 teams, England ** accredited) and Moors Youth FC (16 teams, England *** accredited). It must be noted that Moors Youth and Elmore FC are linked, with the U16s at Moors Youth moving through to the U18s at Elmore FC, hence why both have three stars.
The pitch would support all clubs to grow, particularly women and girls teams. Currently, the teams above have a total of 10 female teams. A new pitch would encourage teams to promote the female game, and also grow youth and male senior football in Tiverton.
There is also an option for this to be a multi sport project with Tiverton Rugby Club a potential user of the pitch. The RFU reports a midweek/sports lit pitch deficit for the club.
Site options include:
Tiverton High School- The School is to be relocated to the opposite side of the A316 in the town, and as part of the development a 11v11 3G FTP has been given outline planning permission. Sport England, however, has concerns regarding this development as the proposed new pitch is located on a floodplain.
Tiverton FC- conversion of the Club's stadia pitch. This may not be suitable for FF funding due to the current level of the first team(step 3)
Elmore FC- the club's current stadia pitch site is being redevelopment (New Aldi supermarket is being built on it). As part of the mitigation, a new 3G FTP could be development instead of a grass stadia pitch. Match funding will be provided by the development. No new site has been identified for the football club currently.
