Notes
There is a shortfall of two 11v11 3G FTPs in Luton (Borough wide).
Stockwood Park Athletics Centre has been identified as the main priority site for exploration to deliver a 3G FTP within the centre of the existing running track. The track is actively used by Luton Athletics Club and it is vital that any development is not at the detriment of of the club or the sport.
It is proposed that the site is used by Crawley Green FC and Luton Town Ladies FC which both have a requirement for a facility which will enable them to progress within the men's and women's NLS. For this reason, consideration should be given to the pitch being off a size which is suitable for requirements for the NLS.
If this is not achievable, on the basis of it being detrimental to athletics (and no suitable mitigation options proposed for the sport) then a community level 3G FTP should be progressed to reduce the shortfall of 3G FTPs identified in the Luton PPS.
If a project is not to progress at this location, there could be an opportunity to cater for localised demand in this area from projects in Central Bedfordshire through potential projects identified in Caddington and south areas of its LFFP.
Luton Town Ladies FC is an England 2* Accredited Club.
