Notes
Clapham Common is a site of high strategic importance and feature nine full size equivalent grass pitches with supporting ancillary provision. The site is currently used 67 teams for match play from a range of clubs including Clapham Rangers (18 teams, England 1* Accredited Club), FC United Youth (11 teams, England 1* Accredited Club), and Unity FC Youth (11 teams, England 1* Accredited Club).
There are also two full size Redgra pitches on site which are earmarked for conversion to 3G FTP. A feasibility study into best options is currently being undertaken and options for one or two pitches alongside ancillary provision are being considered. It should be noted that the Lambeth and Wandsworth boundary runs through the site and that the Redgra pitches sit on the Wandsworth side. However, the site as a whole is under Lambeth Council management. If any development were to proceed it would require co-operation with Wandsworth Council Planning Committee.
It is expected that this project will bolster clubs ability to increase participation for women and girls within the area by providing equal opportunities to facility access.
Match funding options have been identified, however, the exact scale of the development is to be determined once the feasibility study is concluded.
A comprehensive usage programme would need to be developed during the application stage to clarify anticipated demand and primary users. Due to the strategic importance of the site, multi sport opportunities should also be explored.
