Notes
There is an identified need for one 11v11 3G FTP in the Borough. Through discussions with the LFFP Steering Group options for sites include:
-Hurlingham Park: is a large multi use park site in the south of the Borough which is of high strategic importance locally. It features one sand based AGP (no floodlights, 77x47m), multiple tennis courts, and two grass pitches with supporting ancillary facilities. There is no current affiliated use at the site, however, the AGP is known to be be used for recreational football. There is no known hockey use on the AGP, however, England Hockey report potential unmet demand - with Fulham Juniors Hockey Club keen to access the pitch. During LFFP Steering Group discussions, it was noted that Hammersmith & Fulham Council is in the preliminary stages of a master planning exercise for the site. As part of this process, there is potential to reconfigure the site layout to incorporate an 11v11 3G FTP. However, initial assessments suggest that site constraints may limit the feasibility of delivering an 11v11 3G FTP. A more suitable alternative may be the development of a smaller 9v9 3G FTP, subject to the findings of detailed feasibility studies.
Given the site's current configuration supports multi-sport use, any proposed changes will require consultation with Sport England and the relevant NGBs.
-Ravenscourt Park: features one sand based AGP (no floodlights, 70x40m), with no current affiliated users. The pitch is know to be be used for recreational football. There is no known hockey use on the AGP. Hammersmith & Fulham Council highlighted potential to convert the existing AGP to 3G FTP. Similarly to Hurlingham Park, this would require further consultation with England Hockey and Sport England to understand potential implications on, and any protection needs for, other sports.
Both sites present challenges around developing sports lighting, especially when considering their proximity to residential properties.
As clubs are spread across multiple facilities for training, it remains unclear at this time which clubs would benefit most from the proposed 11v11 3G FTP. A comprehensive usage programme would need to be developed during the application stage to clarify anticipated demand and primary users.
Subject to exploration of potentially feasible site options, there may be a need for the development of new or refurbished ancillary provision to support the development of a 3G FTP.
Any potential 3G FTP development would be subject to full feasibility planning at application stage. Further opportunities should be monitored.
