Notes
The FA has seen unprecedented growth over the last five years, particularly in the youth and women & girls game. Overall participation is estimated to grow year on year, equating to an additional 39 teams in the local authority by 2030, of which 14 will come from women and girls. This could represent the equivalent of up to 1 additional 11v11 3G FTPs.
Allowances will be made for in the LFFP for ancillary provision for each pitch if needed, however this is subject to the final agreed location of any additional future provision and an assessment as to whether there are existing suitable facilities available.
Folkestone & Hythe District Council has recently commissioned a leisure needs assessment, which will consider future developments and growth areas. The findings of this assessment may assist in identifying suitable locations for provision to support future needs.
For example, Otterpool Park is a potential site for any new development as it remains a key priority development site for the Council. The proposal for the new market town to be located on the former Folkestone Racecourse site with a potential for up to 10,000 new homes. The Council is working with partners to draw up a masterplan for the new town which includes a new sports complex, comprising of 3G, grass and changing provision.
In addition, Martello Lakes (formerly known as Nickols Quarry) is a mixed-use allocation which will accommodate housing and other uses. There may be opportunities to explore further 3G FTP development associated with community provision to be developed as part of such schemes.
