Notes
There is a shortfall for three 11v11 3G FTPs in the North area of Bristol. The feasibility of sites to meet this shortfall should be explored. Some options to consider include:
The possible conversion of sand dressed AGPs in the area to 3G. Early engagement should take place with England Hockey to ascertain suitability of the facility for conversion (ensuring any existing hockey activity, if present, can be suitably accommodated within the local area).
Pen Park - Opportunity for the existing 7v7 3G FTP to be extended to 11v11 3G FTP. Should this project not be developed there is a need to resurface the existing 7v7 3G FTP on site. The RFU have highlighted that there is a midweek/sports lit pitch deficit at Southmead RFC and a proposed 3G in the locality could provide a partial solution, should this be built to achieve WRC and provide some peak time access for the club.
Bristol Free School - The school is considering developing a new 7v7 3G FTP. This site is close to Pen Park so if an 11v11 3G FTP is not feasible on that site, this could provide additional 3G FTP provision.
The Portway Centre - St Brendans Old Boys RFC plan to deliver a new WRC 3G and would be keen to explore the opportunity to deliver this in partnership with the Football Foundation to provide multisport use/activity.
Port of Bristol Sports & Community Hub - There is no current 3G provision in this area and a 11v11 3G FTP could help support the long term viability of the site. The RFU have highlighted that there is a midweek/sports lit pitch deficit at Avonmouth Old Boys RFC and a proposed 3G in the locality could provide a partial solution, should this be built to achieve WRC and provide some peak time access for the club.
Pavilion projects have also been included as part of the area wide projects as the site is unknown and may require additional services. However, this is subject to further feasibility and site identification meaning that a pavilion project may not be required.
