Notes
There is an identified need for three 11v11 3G FTPs across Bexley. It is identified that the Thamesmead and Erith areas have the greatest need, however, available site options are limited in those areas. Therefore, the sites listed below are across the Bexley local authority area and require further investigation to ascertain if an 11v11 3G FTP development is feasible. A more thorough assessment of club demand and potential user clubs will be necessary at the application stage. Through discussions with the LFFP Steering Group options for sites include:
Danson Youth Centre - existing facilities include two full size grass pitches, and one 7v7 sand based AGP with ancillary facilities. Potentially, there is adequate space to develop an 11v11 3G FTP. The site is currently used by 11 teams from Junior Reds FC (35 teams, 2* England Accredited), including one of the Clubs female teams.
Crayford Arrows Sports Club - existing facilities include three full-size grass pitches, and one 5v5 3G FTP with ancillary facilities. There is potential to develop an 11v11 3G FTP on site. The site is used by 30 teams from Crayford Arrows Youth FC (42 teams, England 3* Accredited), including ten of the Clubs female teams.
Beths Grammar School - existing facilities include two full size grass pitches. The PPS highlights that the school has an aspiration to develop an 11v11 3G FTP. There are currently no affiliated clubs using the site.
Haberdashers' Crayford Academy- existing facilities include school playing fields, marked out for rugby and football. There is potential to develop an 11v11 3G FTP on site. There are currently no affiliated clubs using the site.
Hurstmere School - existing facilities include a youth 11v11 3G FTP with no floodlights; however, the 3G FTP is a non standard size (89mx42m) and cannot accommodate match play. The LFFP Steering Group reported that the pitch is in need of resurfacing; however, in its current format it offers limited return on outcomes as it cannot accommodate training demand. In addition, the site features a full size sand based AGP and significant playing fields. The AGP is used for community hockey. Further investigation is required to ascertain best options at this site.
Subject to exploration of potentially feasible site options, there may be a need for the development of new or refurbished ancillary provision to support the development of a 3G FTP.
